Too much volume. An uneven result. A lump you can see or feel. A lip shape that no longer looks like you.
If you are unhappy with previous lip filler, the answer is not automatically another syringe—and it is not automatically dissolving everything.
At LIPS NY by Rainforest Medical Aesthetics, we begin by evaluating the filler you already have, the appearance of your lips now, and what you want to change.
Vitrase filler dissolving/correction: $300
All of those are reasonable reasons to have your lips evaluated.
But they do not necessarily have the same cause—or the same solution.
Filler migration describes filler material that has moved beyond the area where it was intended to remain.
Migration is a recognized potential complication of dermal filler, but it has also become an overused term online. Not every ridge, asymmetry, fullness above the lip, or irregular appearance means that filler has migrated.
That distinction matters because treatment should address the actual problem—not simply the label placed on it.
Vitrase is a prescription form of hyaluronidase, an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid.
In aesthetic medicine, hyaluronidase is commonly used to reduce or dissolve hyaluronic-acid dermal filler when doing so is clinically appropriate.
At LIPS NY, we use Vitrase when filler dissolution or reduction is appropriate for the concern being treated.
Vitrase filler dissolving/correction —
Vitrase acts on hyaluronic acid.
Many commonly used lip fillers, including products in the Juvéderm and Restylane families, are hyaluronic-acid fillers and may therefore be susceptible to hyaluronidase.
Other filler materials are different. Calcium hydroxylapatite, poly-L-lactic acid, silicone, and other non-HA materials do not have the same hyaluronidase reversal pathway.
Bring the product name, treatment record, receipt, or injector information if you have it.
Vitrase is an FDA-approved hyaluronidase medication. Its FDA-labeled uses include helping disperse and absorb certain injected medications and other specific medical applications.
Dermal-filler dissolution is not one of Vitrase’s FDA-approved indications. Using hyaluronidase to dissolve hyaluronic-acid filler is therefore considered off-label use.
Off-label treatment is used throughout medicine. For filler correction, what matters is that the treatment is medically appropriate, that you understand why it is being recommended, and that expected benefits, limitations, and risks are discussed before treatment.
AND
Some patients are seeking reduction of a particular area. Others feel globally overfilled and want a broader reset.
The treatment plan depends on what we find and what you want to accomplish.
Correction does not automatically mean dissolving everything.
Hyaluronidase can be directed toward a particular area, but filler dissolution is not an exact eraser.
Different hyaluronic-acid fillers respond differently to hyaluronidase, and the effect can vary with the product, location, amount present, and tissue environment.
We therefore avoid promising that we can remove one microscopic portion of filler while leaving every surrounding molecule untouched.
A visible or palpable irregularity after filler can have different causes.
A noninflamed filler irregularity may be approached differently from an area that is painful, red, hot, increasingly swollen, or otherwise concerning for inflammation or infection.
If your concern is a lump, tell us:
But “dissolve and refill” should not be automatic.
If filler is dissolved, the lips may need time to settle before we can accurately evaluate their baseline appearance and determine whether additional filler is appropriate.
At LIPS NY, our sequence is simple:
01
02
03
04
The timing of future filler depends on why the previous filler was dissolved, how much correction was performed, the condition of the tissue, and what the lips look like afterward.
If your goal is a true reset, immediately replacing filler can work against the reason you dissolved it in the first place.
We would rather build the next lip intentionally than rush into another syringe.
Vitrase is administered by injection, so temporary discomfort at the injection sites can occur.
Possible local reactions can occur, and allergic or anaphylactic-like reactions have been reported rarely. Your medical history and relevant allergies are reviewed before treatment.
Hyaluronidase acts on hyaluronic acid, and hyaluronic acid is naturally present in human tissues as well as in HA dermal fillers.
For that reason, filler dissolution should not be presented as an infinitely precise “undo button” that recognizes manufactured filler and nothing else.
The body naturally replenishes endogenous hyaluronic acid, but the immediate treatment should still be approached thoughtfully.
The goal of a correction consultation is not to convince everyone to completely dissolve their filler.
You may want:
An expert opinion before you do anything else
Those are different goals.
The treatment should follow the goal—not the other way around.
Acute filler complications require urgent medical assessment.
Vitrase filler dissolving/correction
We believe the price should be easy to find before you book.
The first question, however, is still whether Vitrase is appropriate for the filler and concern being evaluated.
Vitrase filler dissolving/correction is $300.
LIPS NY is the lip-focused destination of Rainforest Medical Aesthetics in East Meadow, Nassau County, New York.
We evaluate concerns involving previous lip filler, unwanted volume, asymmetry, palpable irregularities, suspected migration, and patients who simply want to know whether their current filler should be left alone, corrected, or reduced.
You do not need to know whether your filler migrated.
You do not need to decide whether everything should be dissolved.
And you do not need to arrive knowing what treatment you need.
